Dad-leading the wayDads Teaching High School:

Why, What & How

By Mike Cheney
During the past few years God has been moving the hearts of fathers to take the lead in the home discipleship movement.  While speaking before groups and organizing and attending various conferences, I have noted a dramatic increase in the number of men in attendance.  Increasingly, men have gone from trudging along behind the home discipleship wagon to taking up the reins and leading the way.  In increasing numbers fathers are setting the standard and pace.  They are taking up the mantle of authority in this area tempered by a keen sense of responsibility to God.

WHY?

A Lifetime of Refried Beans
and Molasses

Dinner plate

By Carol Barnier

“Here’s your breakfast!” said Mom, as she cheerfully placed in front of her awakening children a plate covered with smooth refried beans and a little dollop of molasses. The children went suddenly silent. This was new. However, they had been taught not to complain, so they dutifully ate what was put before them. Yet, each secretly looked forward to lunch.

At noon the children eagerly waited to see what tasty treat Mom would produce. Once again there appeared another plate of refried beans and molasses. Lunch was a rather quiet affair, except for Mom, who burbled quite happily about giving only the best to her family.

Dinner … same story.
Three days and nine meals of beans and molasses later, Dad finally spoke up. “Hey, hon, what’s up with the beans and molasses diet we seem to have gone on?” For Mom’s answer, click here!

CHAP 2011 Homeschool Convention

CD/MP3 recordings are now available

MP3 AudiosEach year, notable leaders in the homeschool movement are invited to speak at the annual CHAP Homeschool Convention. Beginning in 2004, CHAP has begun to make recordings of these sessions available for download, first in MP3 format, now in CD format, as well as downloadable MP3 format. These recordings run roughly 45-50 minutes in length, and cost $4.00 per MP3, or $6.00 per CD, payable by credit card on the web. There is a flat $5.00 per order for shipping, regardless of how many items you purchase (waived if your entire order is made up of downloadable MP3s).
