Urge Congress to Support Parental Rights
Original link Added March 12, 2010
We are sharing the letter below from our friends at HSLDA and ParentalRights.org. Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: Here is information we received from ParentalRights.org about an excellent opportunity to defend your constitutional rights as parents. In celebration of Constitution Week, ParentalRights.org has scheduled a major call-in blitz to Congress, urging members to cosponsor the Parental Rights Amendment. If you are anxious to preserve your parental rights, urge everyone you know to call their congressman and senators throughout the week. Get started today, and maybe even call back in a few days, just to see if they’re listening. You may have called during the last blitz by ParentalRights.org in July. Since then, though, many volunteers have visited their congressman or senators’ offices and spoken directly with them or with their staff. Now they are more ready to listen, and it is vital that they be called again. Here’s what you can do: 1. Check ParentalRights.org’s lists of House cosponsors and Senate cosponsors. If your representative is already a sponsor, don’t call them! Consider mailing them a message of thanks instead.
2. If your congressman or senator is not on the list, go to the States Watch page and click on your state to find their contact information.
3. Call your congressman and ask him to sign on to cosponsor H.J. Res. 42, the Parental Rights Amendment, to protect parental rights and American and state sovereignty.
4. Call your senators and urge them to cosponsor S.J. Res. 16, the Parental Rights Amendment, to protect parental rights and American and state sovereignty.
5. Call or email friends and family and urge them to get in on this campaign as well. Let’s make this a very busy week for the Capitol switchboard!
6. Consider volunteering time to our Get-Out-the-Call campaign to encourage even more people to call Congress this week. Email Eric Lansing at eric@parentalright.org for more information. Volunteers have been working for weeks toward this campaign, visiting congressional offices and town halls to call attention to these vital rights. We must not let up now! Please call first, before you close this email! It will only take a minute to see that your voice is heard. If you wish, you can also donate to ParentalRights.org. Sincerely, J. Michael Smith HSLDA President
